Manson Tool & Supply Co., Inc. was established as a General Line Industrial Distributor in January, 1950 located in the old tooling district of Manhattan in New York City. During the years in New York City, Manson Tool developed a strong reputation as a specialist in Precision Measuring Tools. As one of the L.S. Starrett Company's largest stocking distributors in the country, Manson became the sure choice to locate the entire Starrett line of micrometers, vernier calipers, depth gages, dial calipers, dial indicators and related shop measuring tools. Not only was the stock available, but expertise on special tooling and repair parts was always on call. That reputation is still maintained today.
In December, 1980, Manson Tool relocated to its current location in Thornwood, NY. In addition to its large Starrett inventory, the stock of cutting tools (taps, drills, end mills and cutters) was expanded. Specialty lines such as HeliCoil screw thread inserts, 3M Abrasives and Scotch-Brite surface conditioning products were also added.
Manson Tool completed a major expansion in January, 1997 with the purchase of Main Tool Supply Corporation of North White Plains, NY and Van Emmerik Tool Supply of Ramsey, NJ. These acquisitions further expanded our product offering and expertise. Main Tool had a solid reputation as an expert in specialty cutting tools and tooling components. World class product lines such as Carr Lane Manufacturing, Onsrud Cutter, Vlier Products and DeStaCo were added. Van Emmerik was a well-established distributor of carbide tooling and storage equipment in Northern New Jersey adding products such as Lista Storage Solutions, Lyon Workspace Products, Tool-Flo Carbide Inserts & Greenfield Industries.
This acquisition further broadened our inventory offering. Additions to our product line included carbide routers, honeycomb cutters, ball lock pins, drill bushings, tooling components, spring plungers, ball plungers, toggle clamps and pneumatic clamps.
